At Noel Performance Horses, training and coaching are tailored to the unique needs of the horse and the owner and/or rider. We provide training in ground manners, starting under saddle, refresher training, finishing for the show ring in multiple disciplines, and more. While we specialize in Arabians, western pleasure, hunter pleasure, and show halter, trainer JW Noel welcomes and is experienced in a variety of breeds.
We understand that each horse has his or her own set of strengths and opportunities. We accept horses at any stage of learning, even if they’ve proven difficult to train in the past or are currently displaying challenging behavior. In our training program, we work with each horse in a way that will best benefit the horse to achieve an attainable goal. We get to know the horse during the first leg of the training process to create a connection and to gain an understanding of what the horse is good at. Not every horse is built for every discipline or is meant to be in the show ring.
Communication is a priority at Noel Performance Horses, and we provide routine updates on the horse’s progress while they are entrusted to our care. In addition, many clients want to be able to visit and be part of the process. We provide our clients with opportunities to be involved in their horse’s development.
We also know that partnerships between horse and rider are unique. Riders who work to build a trusting and respectful partnership with their horse often find the horse to be more confident, willing, and easier to teach. In our coaching program, we strive to strengthen the bond between horse and rider and/or prepare the duo for the show ring.
We will help you understand your horse and how to communicate effectively while on the ground or in the saddle, and we will meet you wherever you are in the process. Whether you’re just getting to know your horse, are fine-tuning your or your horse’s skills, or are ready to hit the show ring, Noel Performance Horses is here for you.
Growing up on a horse farm, JW Noel developed a passion for horses at a young age. He’s been in the saddle his entire life and began his show career when he was just three years old. He won his first Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Regional Top 5 in 2004, and has garnered multiple wins in the AHA since including 2018 Region 15 Hunter Pleasure Open, 2021 Region 15 Reserve Champion Arabian Western Pleasure Open, 2023 Region 15 Champion Western Pleasure Open, and 2023 Region 16 Champion Western Pleasure Open.
Over the years, he developed an extraordinary talent for reading and understanding horses by building relationships with and training his and his clients' horses, and through his time spent working with equine veterinarians. JW started training horses professionally when he was fifteen years old and spent time in mentorship under senior trainers. He attended clinics, listened to podcasts, and read information from trusted equine trainers.
Through his experience, studying, and mentorships, he has developed a unique style of training that has proven to be effective time and time again. He continues to stay apprised of new methods, strategies, and information, and he incorporates them into his training where he sees a need.
JW’s goal in training horses is to understand how the horse learns and operates and to help the horse reach his or her potential based on the training objectives. Among his clients, JW has developed a reputation for being able to reach horses that they, or other trainers, had difficulty understanding and teaching. JW recognizes that “helping a horse to be able to think and not just react means having to read what the horse is thinking." For him, "it’s rewarding to work with horses through their difficulties so people can have well-rounded horses that they can enjoy.”
His goal in coaching is to bring horse and rider together into a cohesive partnership. “With horses, you can create such a good friendship, partnership, connection." JW has built, maintains, and enjoys a strong partnership with JT, his Arabian stallion and winning show partner. "He can always brighten my day and make me laugh. He’s definitely my buddy.”
JW wants every horse owner to experience this kind of relationship with their horse. “Seeing the horse and owner learning together, connecting, and figuring it out brings me happiness. It's what it's all about.”
